The placenta is the only organ of our body that Western culture views as disposable.  After the birth, it gets thrown away as medical waste.  However, there is a growing body of evidence that a healthy placenta is a valuable source of healing substances.  Many other cultures have known this for a long time.

For this reason I offer placenta encapsulation services. (And the best part is you don't have to pay for the placenta---It's YOURS!)  Using aseptic technique, some of the placental tissue is dehydrated, ground into powder and pressed into capsules, commonly called "placenta pills".  I learned about placenta encapsulation during my midwifery training. Initially I was disgusted by the idea, but once I became familiar with the process and then heard so much positive feedback from the moms, I stopped being squeamish.

I have encapsulated placentas for hundreds of moms and have only had positive results reported by the moms using them. They say they have more energy and feel fewer emotional extremes.  Click here for my handout on how taking placenta pills may help. If you have researched placenta encapsulation and want information about my service, please use my Customer Contact Form.

But I'm having a hospital birth...Will they let me have my placenta?

Policies vary, but generally if you advocate for yourself, staff will respect your right to your own tissue.  Sometimes bringing a formal "Release of Liability Form" helps.

PLEASE NOTE:  I perform this service independently;  I am not certified by any agency or organization.  To find a Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist, click here.
